What it means to Be a Feminist Mother

This persuasive article is written by the amazing Mayim Bialik, who is an actress, currently starring in the sitcom “The Big Bang Theory” and author of “Beyond the Sling.” She has a Ph.D. in neuroscience. What Bialik has to say about attachment parenting is truly eye-opening. She juxtaposes attachment parents with both “celebrity parents” and “perfection-driven bored subjugated barefoot lonely women setting feminism back 200 years.” She presents attachment parents as being ” educated, humble and devoted women who believe it is just as much a feminist choice to be a parent as it is to not be one.” While this report is not necessarily progressive, believing that mothers can be feminist too is empowering to those women who do CHOOSE to become a mother. The right to decide for your self that having children is what you want (or don’t want) is totally feminist.
